A Note From
Marc Brandt:
1977 Cat's Hill
I won the 1-2 race in 1977. I was and
still am grateful to the promoters of
the race and to all who contributed their time and
effort to such a memorable
event in my youth. I broke away during the middle
of the race got reeled in
but recovered and opened a gap at the top on the last
lap and came around the
last corner fast breaking away. As I recall,
I finished alone with both arms
up in the air and the crowd pretty exicted.
It was fun and I enjoyed putting on a good show. Also,
there was the actress
who had played the love interest in the film "Breaking
Away" who gave away the
winner's trophy. I have a nice plaque from the
race and fond memories.
